The answer to Stephen Bunting age is straightforward, but his career spans two major chapters of the sport. He was already a world champion when he joined the PDC in 2014. A decade later, his victory at the 2024 Masters gave him a landmark title on its televised stage.
How old is Stephen Bunting?
Bunting turned 41 on 9 April 2026. His birthday and current age are listed in an updated Stephen Bunting player profile, which also records his birthplace as Liverpool.
That birth date helps put his career in perspective. Bunting won his BDO world title in his late twenties, while his first televised PDC title came shortly before his 39th birthday. Those achievements belong to different stages of one long professional career.

From BDO world champion to PDC player
Before his PDC success, Bunting competed in the British Darts Organisation (BDO). In January 2014, he defeated Alan Norris 7–4 to win the BDO World Championship at Lakeside. He then moved to the PDC, putting the newly crowned champion into a different field of tournaments and opponents.
For readers new to darts, the distinction matters: the BDO and PDC world championships were separate competitions. Bunting’s 2014 world title was a BDO title. His subsequent Masters victory was a PDC achievement; it should not be mistaken for a PDC World Championship win.
The move also meant that his earlier success did not guarantee an immediate equivalent title on television in the PDC. He continued competing there for years before the 2024 Masters supplied the breakthrough that had eluded him on its televised stage.
The 2024 Masters breakthrough
Bunting won the Cazoo Masters in February 2024, beating Michael van Gerwen 11–7 in the final at Milton Keynes. It was his first televised PDC title. Earlier on the final day, he defeated Peter Wright 10–2 in the quarter-finals and Nathan Aspinall 11–1 in the semi-finals, according to Sky Sports’ report of the Masters final. Sky Sports
The result stands out because Bunting had entered the PDC soon after becoming BDO world champion in 2014. The Masters trophy arrived ten years later. It marked a new achievement in the organisation where he had spent most of his subsequent professional career.
He added another notable victory in 2025, winning the Bahrain Darts Masters final 8–4 against Gerwyn Price. He also beat Nathan Aspinall 8–5 to take the International Darts Open that April. Together, those results show why an account of his career cannot end with either the 2014 world title or the 2024 Masters.
Family life and his public profile
Bunting discusses parts of his family life publicly, although the focus of his profile remains darts. He has spoken about his partner, Keila, and their sons. His older son has also appeared in some of his online content. That public visibility does not make the children’s private lives part of his sporting record.
In a September 2026 interview with The Guardian, Bunting discussed both the reach of his social-media presence and the abuse directed at his family after his exit from the 2025–26 World Darts Championship. He said he had stepped back from engaging on X while continuing to use other platforms
His stage entrance is another familiar part of that public profile. Bunting walks on to “Titanium” by David Guetta featuring Sia, and he said in the same interview that he intended to keep the song. In September 2026, he also published Bulletproof: From Pub to Palace, My Life in Darts, a book about his life and career.
For anyone searching Stephen Bunting age, the direct answer is 41 as of September 2026. His birthday is 9 April, and the milestones behind his name include a BDO world championship, a move to the PDC and a first televised PDC title ten years later.
